I’m delighted to share some wonderful news: renowned Ukrainian journalist Andrii Kulykov will join the presentation of my documentary photobook Light Through the Ruins.
Andrii will moderate the evening's discussion. This means a great deal to me, as we have known each other for many years, and I have immense respect for him. He has supported both me and Kamianyi Hist on numerous occasions, and even took part in recording one of the songs for our album 70/80: Rock Classics in Ukrainian Style, featuring Ukrainian-language adaptations of legendary rock songs.
The Ukrainian lyrics, vocal exclamations, footsteps, and sound effects in the song "Bo Kokhayu"—our Ukrainian version of Slade's "Coz I Love U"—were all created by Andrii.
He has a remarkable ability to ask questions that reveal far more than what first meets the eye. That's why this evening will be much more than a book presentation. It will be an open conversation about documentary photography, memory, people, and the stories behind the photographs.
The discussion will be naturally followed by an acoustic performance by Kamianyi Hist, continuing the themes of the book through music.
